The West Baraÿ is an artificial lake built in the 11th Century;
it played a major role in the complex irrigation system of Angkor
that was set at the heart of the jungle.
We chose Baraÿ Occidental, or West Baray, as our brand name
to reflect our ethical, aesthetic and economic approach designed
to enhance a harmonious and contemporary art of living
drawn from Cambodia’s culture, traditions and know-how.
Baraÿ Occidental currently supports eight arts-and-crafts
workshops throughout the country,
ensuring them a sustainable economic development.
Developing Cambodian artisans’ know-how, setting up
a wholly handcraft process to create unique products, and
contributing to the continuing development of products’ ecological
quality standards by using natural dyes and eco-dyes, have led to the
creation of an array of products in silk, cotton, papyrus mat and palm leaves.
